British Broadcasting Corporation (Privatisation) Bill
[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to
This bill would end the BBC's status as a publiclyowned broadcaster and convert it into a privatelyowned company. The government would sell the BBC to private investors or a commercial operator, replacing the current licence fee system (where UK households pay an annual charge) with a different funding model. The bill fundamentally changes how the BBC operates, from a public service accountable to Parliament to a private enterprise accountable to shareholders.
Presented by Sir Christopher Chope.
