Rule of Law (Enforcement by Public Authorities) Bill

[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to

This bill aims to strengthen the Rule of Law by giving public authorities (government bodies, councils, and public organisations) clearer legal duties to comply with the law and court decisions. It would establish enforcement mechanisms allowing courts or designated bodies to intervene when public authorities breach legal obligations or ignore court rulings. The bill seeks to prevent government overreach and ensure that public bodies cannot act arbitrarily or ignore judicial decisions. It essentially creates stronger accountability mechanisms to ensure public institutions respect legal boundaries.

Presented by Sir Christopher Chope.
