Arm's-Length Bodies (Accountability to Parliament) Bill
[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to
This bill aims to increase parliamentary oversight of arm'slength bodies, organisations like NHS trusts, public agencies, and quangos that operate independently but are funded by or accountable to government departments. The bill would require these bodies to provide regular reports to Parliament, establish clearer accountability mechanisms, and give MPs greater powers to scrutinise their decisions and spending. The measures seek to close gaps where public money is spent by organisations that currently have limited direct accountability to elected representatives.
Presented by Sir Christopher Chope.
