Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011 (Repeal) Bill [HL]
[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to
This bill removes the law that made UK elections happen every 5 years on a fixed date. It returns to the old system where the Prime Minister can decide when to hold an election (as long as it's within 5 years), which gives them more control over timing but potentially more opportunity to choose convenient moments for their party.
Presented by Lord Grocott.
