Exemption from Value Added Tax (Public Electric Vehicle Charging Points) Bill
[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to
This bill would remove Value Added Tax (VAT) from the installation and operation of public electric vehicle charging points across the UK. Currently, these charging services are subject to the standard 20% VAT rate, which increases costs for businesses and local authorities installing chargers. By exempting them from VAT, the bill aims to make EV charging infrastructure cheaper to build and maintain, potentially encouraging faster rollout of charging networks and making it more affordable for electric vehicle owners to charge their cars publicly.
Presented by Sir Christopher Chope.
