Residential Roads (Adoption by Local Authorities) Bill
[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to
This bill aims to make it easier for local authorities to adopt and take responsibility for residential roads that are currently privately owned or maintained. Currently, many housing estates have roads that remain private property, meaning residents or developers must pay for their upkeep. The bill would establish a clearer process and potentially reduce the financial barriers preventing councils from taking over these roads, ensuring they receive proper maintenance using public funds and are maintained to consistent standards.
Presented by Mr Philip Hollobone.
