Registration of Death (Religion) Bill
[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to
This bill proposes to add a religious or belief field to the death registration process in England and Wales. Currently, death certificates do not record the deceased person's religion or belief system. The bill would require registrars to collect this information (either from the deceased's known wishes, family members, or medical records) and include it on the official death registration. This would create a national record of religious affiliation at the point of death, similar to what is collected in the decennial census.
Presented by Preet Kaur Gill.
