Offences against the Person Act 1861 (Sentencing Guidelines) Bill

This bill creates official sentencing guidelines for crimes of violence and harm under a 160yearold law. Currently, judges have less formal guidance on how long sentences should be, so this bill aims to make sentencing more consistent across different courts and different judges.
