Marine and Coastal Access

Summary

This Act is about managing the UK's seas and coasts more carefully. It creates rules for protecting marine life, gives the public rights to walk along the coast, and sets up organisations to plan how our oceans and beaches should be used and looked after.

A vote to support means

  • Supporting this Act means backing better protection for our seas and coastal areas. It gives people more access to beaches and coastal paths, helps protect marine wildlife, and gives local communities a say in managing their coastlines.

A vote to oppose means

  • Critics worry it might restrict fishing rights and harm fishing communities' livelihoods. Some are concerned about environmental rules increasing costs for businesses, and others feel it takes away local control by giving power to national government bodies.
