Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults Bill [HL]

[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to

This bill would allow terminally ill adults in England and Wales to request medical assistance to end their life. To qualify, a person must be diagnosed with a condition expected to cause death within six months, be mentally competent to make the decision, and go through a formal process involving two doctors' assessments and a court application. If approved, a doctor could then prescribe medication that the person selfadministers. The bill creates strict safeguards including waiting periods and multiple medical checks to prevent coercion or hasty decisions.

Presented by Lord Falconer of Thoroton.
