Immigration (Time Limit on Detention) Bill
[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to
This bill would set a maximum number of days that UK immigration authorities can detain people (hold them without freedom) while sorting out their immigration status. Currently, there is no strict time limit, so some people have been held for very long periods. The bill aims to protect people's freedom by requiring them to be released if their case takes too long.
Presented by Tulip Siddiq.
