House of Lords (Hereditary Peers) (Abolition of By-Elections) Bill

[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to

This bill would end byelections in the House of Lords for hereditary peers (peers who inherit their title and seat). Currently, when a hereditary peer dies or leaves, a new one is elected to take their place. This bill would stop that process, gradually reducing the number of hereditary peers in Parliament.

Presented by John Spellar.
