- The Small Business Research & Enterprise Centre (SBREC) allocates an annual budget of £162,000 to procure specialist market intelligence databases that provide data not freely available elsewhere. These resources are essential for SBREC’s members—pre-startups, sole traders, micro and small businesses—who cannot afford commercial subscriptions. SBREC purchases these datasets at academic and local authority rates, ensuring strong value for money.
All databases are reviewed annually to confirm their uniqueness, return on investment, and alignment with SBREC’s service standards. Providers are recognised industry authorities and are the sole publishers of their datasets.
GlobalData is a key resource for SBREC, offering in-depth, analyst generated market, sector, company, brand, and demographic data that cannot be replicated by other sources. Its forecasts, trend analysis, and global insights support business planning, funding applications, market entry decisions, and growth strategies. Access to this credible, authoritative data significantly strengthens the competitiveness and success prospects of small businesses.
Without GlobalData, SBREC would be unable to provide the high-quality guidance required by its users, limiting the support available to businesses at critical stages of development. As the data is unique and essential, the absence of this resource could lead to weaker business planning and an increased risk of business failure, with wider negative implications for the UK economy.

- SCAPE undertook a structured and evidence-based procurement process over a 12‐month period commencing in Q1 2025 to identify a suitable software licensing and support solution to meet its operational and digital requirements.
The process began with market research and information gathering to identify available technologies, potential suppliers, and applicable licensing and procurement models. This included consideration of supplier capabilities, support arrangements, scalability, and indicative commercial terms.
SCAPE reviewed and assessed a range of suppliers and procurement routes against SCAPE's requirements, including functional suitability, security and resilience, licensing flexibility, supplier capability, cost, and overall value for money. Costings and commercial options were evaluated as part of this comparative assessment.
On completion of this evaluation, a decision was taken to proceed with Softcat. Softcat is the most appropriate overall solution, combining suitable technical capability, competitive commercial terms, and robust ongoing support arrangements. On this basis, Softcat was determined to represent the best value for SCAPE.

- The Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk (the Council) is inviting tenders for an Immersive Experience Designer to assist with shaping the delivery of the St Georges Guildhall & Creative Hub project situated in King’s Lynn. This project will renovate and refurbish a range of buildings including a theatre with national and international significance, creating a new visitor attraction in the town.
The immersive experience will take place inside the refurbished theatre space at St George’s Guildhall. This is a first-floor space with England’s largest scissor brace ceiling, several early 15th century windows, reinstated minstrel’s gallery and audience galleries. The space is as atmospheric as its heritage would suggest.
The immersive experience must draw together the heritage of this unique space with particular attention to the theatrical history of the venue. It must be a visually impactful experience which leaves the visitor in no doubt that they have seen something of significant value and as unique as the venue in which they see it. The immersive experience must be inclusive and exciting using high-tech forward-looking technology to allow the visitor to see the past.
The experience will be approximately 10-15 mins and will be attended by approximately 15 people at a time.
For further details of St George’s Guildhall please see: https://stgeorgesguildhall.com/
