A secretariat is the entity that does the operational work of an All-Party Parliamentary Group: drafts agendas, briefs MPs, sends out invitations, books rooms, writes reports. When the secretariat is a lobby firm or PR firm, the APPG is a paid channel for the firm’s clients to access MPs. The MPs officer the group, the firm supplies the staff and the policy line, the firm’s clients (listed under Funders below) pay for the privilege.

The APPG seeks to keep cancer at the top of the political agenda and to ensure that policymaking remains firmly patient-centred, bringing together Parliamentarians from across the political spectrum to debate key issues and campaign together to improve cancer services.
