Sir Richard Douglas was appointed as a non-executive director at the Department of Health and Social Care in March 2024. He is also chair of board’s Audit and Risk Committee.

Richard’s current roles include:

• chair, South East London Integrated Care System and Board

• advisory role with Incisive Health

• trustee, Place2be, a children’s mental health charity

• trustee, Demelza Hospice Care for Children

He has previously held non-executive director roles with both NHS England and NHS Improvement. Prior to this he was a director general at the Department of Health and has held various roles in the Civil Service that have had a financial focus. Richard held the role of Acting Permanent Secretary at Department of Health for a brief period in 2010.
