Mike McCarthy took up his role as Director General of Digital and Innovation at the Home Office on 12 January 2026.

Mike was previously a partner with McKinsey Digital. He brings substantial experience of leading digital transformations and IT modernisation within government and financial institutions.

Mike began his career in the British Army Corps of Royal Engineers, where he served for eight years.
