Elizabeth O’Mahony was appointed Director General, Finance in March 2026.

Her previous roles include Chief Financial Officer at NHS England and NHS Regional Director for the South West.

With more than 25 years’ experience in the NHS, Elizabeth started her career in NHS finance and has worked across different provider organisations and in regional and national roles, which include:

• Chief Financial Officer at NHS Improvement

• Director of Finance at the NHS Trust Development Authority

• Director of Finance of the South West Strategic Health Authority

Elizabeth’s experience is wide-ranging and includes financial turnaround, provider development, service change, and mergers and acquisitions.

She is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
