Still-Birth (Definition) Bill [HL]
[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to
This bill proposes to change the legal definition of stillbirth in the UK. Currently, a stillbirth is legally defined as a baby born with no signs of life after 24 weeks of pregnancy. The bill would lower this threshold, potentially allowing earlier pregnancy losses to be classified and registered as stillbirths rather than miscarriages. This would affect how these losses are recorded, reported in statistics, and how parents can access support and bereavement services.
Presented by Baroness Benjamin.
