This bill establishes a dedicated Special Envoy position within the UK government to promote and protect freedom of religion or belief globally. The envoy would represent UK interests in religious freedom matters, engage with international partners and organisations, and report on violations of religious freedoms worldwide. The role aims to give greater governmental focus and diplomatic weight to championing this human right, particularly in countries where religious minorities face persecution or discrimination.
