Registration of Births (Inclusion of Deceased Parents) Bill
[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to
This bill would allow parents who have died before a child's birth to be named on the birth certificate. Currently, UK birth registration requires parents to be alive at the time of registration, meaning deceased parents cannot be officially recorded. The bill seeks to change this by permitting posthumous registration of parentage, particularly in cases involving assisted reproduction (such as sperm or egg donation from a deceased partner) or other circumstances where a child is born after a parent's death.
Presented by Jen Craft.
