Reasonable Adjustments (Duty on Employers to Respond) Bill

[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to

This bill would place a legal duty on UK employers to actively respond to requests for reasonable adjustments from disabled employees and job applicants within a specified timeframe. Currently, employers must make reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010, but there is no explicit requirement to formally respond to or acknowledge adjustment requests. The bill aims to close this gap by mandating timely, documented responses, either approving adjustments, explaining why they cannot be made, or proposing alternatives, ensuring disabled workers have clarity on their employment situation.

Presented by Deirdre Costigan.
