Prime Minister (Temporary Replacement) Bill

[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to

This bill establishes a formal legal process for temporarily replacing the Prime Minister if they become unable to perform their duties due to illness, injury, or incapacity. Rather than relying on convention and informal arrangements, it creates a clear mechanism for determining when a PM cannot function and who assumes power in the interim. The bill aims to ensure continuity of government and prevent uncertainty about who is leading the country during periods when the sitting PM is incapacitated but hasn't formally resigned.

Presented by Mr Peter Bone.
