Asylum Support (Prescribed Period) Bill [HL]
[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to
This bill addresses the prescribed period for which the government can provide asylum support to people awaiting a decision on their asylum claim. Currently, asylum support can be provided under specific conditions, but this bill seeks to clarify or modify the time limits and conditions under which such support continues. The bill determines the rules for how long asylum seekers receive government financial assistance and accommodation while their claims are being processed. This is a technical but significant measure affecting vulnerable people during what can be lengthy immigration procedures.
Presented by Baroness Lister of Burtersett.
