Marriage (Authorised Belief Organisations) Bill
[As Introduced]
A
BILL
to
This bill would allow secular (nonreligious) belief organisations to officially conduct legal marriages. Currently, only religious organisations and registrars can do this. The bill would give humanist groups and similar organisations the same legal power to marry couples, recognising that some people want meaningful ceremonies that reflect their nonreligious beliefs.
Presented by Rehman Chishti.
