Health and Social Care Levy (Repeal) Act 2022

Summary

This Act cancels a tax called the Health and Social Care Levy that the government had introduced to pay for NHS and care services. By repealing (removing) it, people and businesses pay less tax, but the government has to find money from somewhere else to fund these services.

A vote to support means

  • Supporting this Act means you want to remove a tax that was added to people's pay cheques. It gives workers and employers more money in their pockets because they no longer have to pay this extra levy, which could help people struggling with living costs.

A vote to oppose means

  • People who oppose this Act worry it will reduce funding for the NHS and social care services. They're concerned that without this tax, there won't be enough money to help hospitals, elderly care, and disabled people who rely on these services.
